Stortjärnhobben's exploration and mining project
The Stortjärnhobben gold project is located approximately 2.5 km south of the Umeälven River in the municipality of Storuman. The gold mineralization was discovered in 1997 and has been investigated with 10,000 meters of core drilling. The mineralization has also been found in outcrops where visible gold has been discovered.
The gold-bearing zone can be followed for over 750 meters from north to south and down to a depth of approximately 180 meters. The gold content in the cores is high in places, and visible gold has been observed with the naked eye.
The project has a processing concession of 21.75 hectares. The Mining Inspectorate granted a land allocation of 52 hectares in 2024. The Land and Environmental Court approved the land allocation in July 2025. Land and Environmental Court of Appeal granted access to the land allocation pending the reindeer industry's appeal against the Land and Environmental Court's ruling.
Our goal is to take the project to mining and then operate a profitable mining operation. The path to that is to gain more knowledge about the gold mineralization, develop a plan for mining, and secure the necessary permits.
Completed works in Stortjärnhobben
Lappland Guldprospektering AB has for many years conducted investigations of the area, including boulder prospecting, geophysical measurements, surface sampling and core drilling. Gold-bearing boulders with up to 99 grams of gold per ton have been found at Stortjärnhobben
On the eastern slope of Stortjärnhobben, 77 core holes of over 10,000 meters have been drilled in a kilometer-long zone south of Stortjärnen between 1997 and 2025. A 750 m long and an average of 25 m wide gold mineralized zone has been demonstrated from the surface down to 75 – 180 m depth within a horizontal area of approximately 37,500 m2. The mineralization is open to the north, south and at depth, which means that we have not yet delimited the deposit.
Ongoing drilling program 2024/2025
In the 2025 drilling program, the goal has been to obtain denser information about the mineralization by drilling exploratory holes from the height on the west side to more effectively intersect the mineralization.
The mineralization slopes from the east and steeply dips west at depth. The landscape slopes in the other direction and has a mountain on the west side, and because of this, previous core drilling has been done from the east side. The drill program has shown gold levels in most drill holes, with some standing out with higher levels, which have resulted in the highest levels identified by the company in Stortjärnhobben.
An example is STH2025009 which revealed an 8 metre long borehole section between 149 and 157 metres in the direction of the hole, with an average grade of 21.72 grams of gold per tonne. The richest borehole in this section, between 154 and 155 metres, was at 133 grams of gold per tonne. A summary of all boreholes year by year can be found at the bottom of this page.
The plan for Stortjärnhobben for 2025/2026
-
Drilling program 2025: 3000 meters drilled during summer and autumn
-
Extended drilling program 2025/2026: 2000 drilling meters
-
First mineral resource estimate planned before the end of 2025
-
Trial mining, application submitted before the end of 2025
-
Expansion of mineral resource estimate after analyses of expanded drilling program are complete
-
Test mining carried out as soon as the environmental permit is approved
-
Expansion of mineral resource calculation after test mining.
In parallel with these points, we have begun work on a technical description, scoping study and also environmental permits for a full-scale mine.
Depending on the design of the deposit and the results of future studies, future mining may take place initially in an open pit and then with underground mining. Enrichment and crushing are planned to take place in an existing enrichment plant in the vicinity .
Sample mining
To expand our knowledge of the mineralization, we are planning a test mining. It is planned to take place in three smaller test pits totaling 10,000 tons. The test pits will be placed to provide representative information about the mineralization.
The aim is to obtain geological knowledge and average gold content over a larger amount of material, to determine enrichment and grinding characteristics, as well as environmental information. This information will be used in planning a full-scale mine and also for further ore calculations.

Drill hole 2025
In 2025, 3,000 meters of drilling were completed during the summer and autumn, and in 2025/2026, an additional 2,000 meters of drilling results will be recorded and analyzed.
Further test mining will be carried out as soon as the environmental permit is approved, and after the test mining, the mineral resource estimate will be expanded.
EIA application submitted in January 2026

Drill hole 2024
The first program in modern times, aimed to investigate the mineralization from the elevation on the western side of the area.
Drilling from west to east involves a crosscut, meaning that you go straight through the mineralization instead of more parallel. This provides better information about the thickness of the mineralization, and reduces the risk of missing mineralization.
Four of the drill holes returned gold results, and one of the holes, STH202404, showed a nine-meter wide section with an average grade of 8.52 grams of gold per tonne. The same drill hole had another 2.2-meter wide section with 4.49 grams of gold per tonne.

Drill hole 2006
The drilling program this year was intended to explore the northern part of the mineralization. However, the mineralization was missed, and this may be because the drilling was once again carried out from east to west, and the possible extension of the mineralization was missed.
It is possible that the mineralization will trend west if it continues.

Drill hole 2005
This year a larger drilling program was carried out, with the aim of investigating the mineralization at greater depths. Some of the drill holes were made with triplets, where three holes were drilled from the same location at different angles.
STH2005006, STH2005007 and STH2005008 are such examples.
STH2005006: Gold grades of 9.48 grams per tonne between 21.3 and 24.3 metres
STH2005008: Gold grades of 5.33 grams per tonne between 48.7 and 49.7 and 2.04 grams per tonne between 85.7 and 134.7 metres. This makes it a 49 meter wide section
STH2005007 is a vertical hole and 1.38 grams per tonne was found between 138.5 and 143.5 meters down the hole, and also 1.4 grams per tonne between 147.5 and 148.5 meters down the hole.
In total, 9 out of 11 drill holes during the 2005 program had gold grades.

Drill hole 2004
A major drilling program was carried out on 18 drill holes and over 1500 meters, also from east to west. 12 of these have gold hits, and the most interesting are STH2004011, STH2004015, STH2004014 and STH2004012.
STH2004011, has a 5 meter section with 1.25 grams per ton, and a seven meter section with 1.10 grams per ton.
STH2004015 has a nine meter section with 3.38 grams of gold per ton, and STH2004012 a five meter section with 1.21 grams per ton and an 18 meter section with 4.12 grams per ton. Some drill holes further north do not find any gold levels.

Drill hole 2001
Five drill holes totaling 719 meters were drilled between March and April 2001, the plan being to explore the middle part of the mineralization.
The drilling was done from east to west, which meant that the drill holes were subparallel to the dip and the drilling results were therefore not optimal. Three of the holes showed gold grades.
The best sections were 1.8 meters with an average of 1.73 g Au/t and a 13 meter section with an average of 1.19 g Au/t

Drill hole 2000
Eight drill holes are now being drilled further south to investigate the extension.
Here too, the holes are drilled from east to west, but most of the drill holes miss the mineralization.
Drill hole STH2000007 encounters a 1.8 meter long section with 1.17 grams of gold per tonne.

Drill hole 1997
The first drilling program in Stortjärnhobben was carried out in 1997. The area had been located by boulder prospecting and concentrations were also found in outcrops. Most of the drill holes were drilled from east to west due to the topography, although the optimal would have been to drill from west to east.
Three of the drill holes showed encouraging gold concentrations.
STH1997002 had a six-meter wide section with an average of 3.77 grams of gold per tonne,
STH1997004 a four-meter long section with 7.27 grams of gold per tonne
STH1997005 one meter with 5.31 grams per tonne.
Other drill holes had traces of gold. The distance between the northernmost drill hole with gold concentrations and the southernmost is now approximately 250 meters.
